The Health Educator/ Wellness Coach for Harvard College is a key member of the team in the Center for Wellness and Health Promotion as well as a collaborative partner with stakeholders throughout the Dean of Students' Office at Harvard College. This position will work closely with individual students within a House/Yard community to build lifelong skills in health and well-being. This will be accomplished through a comprehensive health and wellness educational program grounded in the socio-ecological approach and in the Center for Wellness and Health Promotion Well-being Framework, as well as individual coaching conversations to inspire and support students. This role will develop assessment tools for individual house and yard communities, work in partnership with House residential life staff to develop outcome measures and goals for each semester, and serve as a resource for students in providing knowledge and access to Harvard resources to support overall well-being. The position is a full-time, three year term position to pilot comprehensive wellness education and coaching prevention efforts in one neighborhood, serving three Houses.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides innovative and creative programming to encourage healthy choices, healthy decision-making, and broaden the community's understanding of overall health and well-being.
- Forms and leads individual house community wellness teams that includes residential life staff and students, especially HUHS peer educators, who have the responsibility of providing ongoing feedback, assisting with creative ideas for programming, and assisting in the overall implementation of programs within specific House.
- Provides individual student wellness coaching conversations using motivational interviewing and educational strategies to identify individual student health status, assist with goal setting and build a supportive environment for students to reach their goals. Refer to HUHS resources or other campus partners when there is an identified need beyond the scope of wellness coaching.
- Serves as House expert on resources available at HUHS to support students in health and wellness.
- Identifies, develops, and implements timely assessment tools in collaboration with other College partners to understand the needs of individuals within the House Communities as it relates to health and well-being dimensions outlined in the Well-being framework.
- Reviews and analyzes existing data on Harvard College health and well-being. Provides ongoing reporting to HUHS and the College about gaps and trends in the community.
- Develops strategic goals and objectives for programming.
- Works with communication experts and other HUHS health educators to develop targeted public health campaigns encouraging healthy choices.

- Employs the standards, practices, and procedures of the department.
- Completes and complies with HUHS training requirements including HIPAA Privacy and Security.
- Reports non-compliance incidents to the supervisor, manager, and/or Compliance Officer.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications Continued:
- Certification and Wellness Coaching experience.
- Minimum of two years' experience in college health promotion, ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, familiarity with evidence-based strategies, and knowledge of current trends in health promotion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills; flexible work schedule to include evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate Excel skills
- Knowledge of current trends in health promotion
- Communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Master's or advanced degree in health education, public health, psychology, or related field.
- Experience with data collection, program evaluation, and outcome assessment.
