Job Description:

  • Position Code: DDEPA
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 08:30 AM - 5:00 PM, occasional nights and weekends
  • Location: East Longmeadow, MA

The primary responsibility of this position will entail continuing oversight and facilitation of all aspects of the curriculum in response to ongoing program evaluation and ARC-PA standards.

Responsible for ongoing curricular assessment and active participation in the development, initiation and incorporation of instructional experiences within the curriculum design.

Responsible for confirming that all students complete the requirements for the program prior to matriculation to the clinical year and ensure the development of core knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite for successful completion of the PANCE and safe practice at the time of entry to the profession.

Essential Functions:

Didactic

  • Oversee the curriculum design and program development to include, but not limited to, program manuals, instructional materials, competency development, syllabi and course learning objectives.
  • Serve as course coordinator and/or instructor of programmatic courses per Faculty Manual guidelines.
  • Oversee the quality and delivery of didactic assessments.
  • Actively participate in lab sessions, practical examinations, skills courses small groups and proctoring sessions.
  • Ensure the development of core knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite to the development of competencies required for the successful PA graduate, including: successful completion of board examinations and safe practice at the time of entry to the profession.
  • Assist with the development of individualized learning objectives and remediation processes intended to facilitate each student's potential to successfully matriculate through the PA program.
  • Provide supervision, instruction, advice and counsel to students assigned to the didactic phase and thereby facilitate the students' successful completion of all learning objectives.
  • Participate in the development, initiation and incorporation of instructional experiences within the curriculum designed to achieve and maintain compliance with ARC-PA standards.
  • Assess textbooks, lab inventory and other educational material used in the didactic phase of the curriculum.
  • Facilitate the use of topic experts into the curriculum.

Clinical

  • Assist with the identification, implementation and cultivation of clinical sites.
  • Assist with management of clinical curriculum via: site visits, Typhon audits; student, preceptor and site evaluations, scheduling EOR examinations.
  • Participate in return to campus activities for clinical year students including EOREs, presentations, debriefing, and special events.
  • Additional clinical responsibilities as designated by the Program Director.

Faculty

  • Engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities as defined in the Faculty Manual.
  • Actively assist with ongoing self-assessment process.
  • Participate in the ARC-PA accreditation process, meetings and on-site evaluation.
  • Participate in ongoing program evaluation. Maintain accurate and appropriate records, assist with periodic program data collection and analysis for programmatic, accreditation or grant reporting.
  • Provide supervision, instruction, advice and counsel to students assigned as advisees to assist in the students' successful completion of all learning objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate student records.
  • Develop proficiency in programmatic systems, such as but limited to: CANVAS, CASPA, Typhon, PAEA and Exam Soft.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the PA Program through participation in service activities of the University and PA Program.
  • Participate in the identification and recruitment of qualified applicants and to promote their enrollment as students in the PA Program in collaboration with the Admissions Committee and program faculty and staff.
  • Identify sources for and participate in the preparation and implementation of grants and contracts supportive of the activities of the University and PA Program.
  • Serve on University and PA Program faculty committees as/when appointed or elected.
  • Attend and participate in required university activities such as, but not limited to, university graduation, faculty development sessions and faculty committee work.
  • Attend and participate in program activities such as, but not limited to, Information Sessions, Admissions activities, White Coat Ceremony, PA Graduation, and external committee obligations.
  • Participate in the search process activities of the University and PA Program.
  • Participate in NEASC accreditation activities as assigned.
  • Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations for own professional development and to ensure program excellence and appropriateness of curriculum and instruction and its application to clinical instruction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the University.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree required with current NCCPA certification.
  • Must hold state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • The candidate must be competent with Microsoft office.
  • Must have effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and solid record keeping abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use discretion and diplomacy when handling sensitive and confidential information and matters.
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience
  • Prior experience in an ARC-PA program preferred with knowledge of the accreditation process helpful.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter. Submit to and pass criminal offender records check (C.O.R.I.).

  • Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in clinical education and/or demonstrated teaching experience in a university-based PA program.
  • If you operate a University owned, leased or personal vehicle at any time while performing your duties you must follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual. You must have a valid driver's license and must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter. Additionally, you must report any driving offense, on or off company time, which causes a loss, suspension, or any other change in your license status. You must report this change within one business day of the offense. You can report this change to the Human Resource Department or your direct supervisor. Failure to do so can lead to disciplinary action, up to and including terminations.
