
Job Description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join their Immunogenetics Laboratory. In this key position, you will perform a wide variety of technical procedures within the Immunogenetics discipline. Your primary duties will include specimen processing; method development, modification and parallel testing; preparation of abstracts/manuscripts; maintaining and repairing laboratory instruments; performing quality control and calibration; sample processing; reagent preparation; and data entry.
Note: incumbent must be able to work weekends, holidays and other shifts as needed.
*A current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
*Experience and background in Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) and blood bank, preferred
*Background in molecular methods, reference ranges, test methodologies, instrument operation/maintenance as well as CAP and other regulatory requirements
*Knowledge of relevant disease states in order to communicate significance of test results
*Ability to perform testing, documentation, interpretation, and report preparation for ongoing R&D and method development projects
*Must be a strong team player
